Curly Carson

Carson and his family will be walking this weekend.  Walking to raise aweness for autism. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed in 1 in 150 children in the US, affecting four times as many boys as girls.

I’ve photographed Carson since he was a new baby.  His parents and brother are wonderful and he is truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.

Here are the walk details -

Miss Maddy

I think Miss Maddy is adorable and rumor has it that Iowa Methodist does too.  She will be in ads and on billboards this summer.  I imagine that you will see her bright eyes and smiling face but I wanted to show you something different.  Eyelashes.  Long beautiful eyelashes.

I’m amazed.  When cancer treatment takes so much including Maddy’s hair, what a miracle it is that her eyelashes remained.  I’m sure there is a medical reason but what a gift that on those many rough days, she was still able to bat those lashes at her parents.

Praise God, Maddy has completed her cancer treatments.  Thank God for eyelashes too!!!  :  )

Layla, pt 2

Because I just can’t not show you more…..  I’m forever an eye girl.

I have many many smiles but the no smile portraits really take my breath away!

Miss Amanda

It is so normal to photograph our children when they are young and then when they are seniors.  We often forget about those really exciting years ‘in between’.  I was happy that Amanda’s mom wanted to capture her right about the time when she will really start to change into a young woman.

I think everyone has noticed how beautiful the crab trees have been this spring.  I would like it if they were a little bit lower, it would make them easier to photograph.

I’m an eye girl and Amanda didn’t let me down!

Lovely Layla

The eyes, the lips, the skin, the grin - everything about Layla took my breath away.   In Ethopian, Layla means something and for the life of me I can’t remember.  Daddy told me a jillion times and well, it was a crazy emotional weekend.  So, in my mind, it means beautiful, lovely, graceful, sassy, adorable, you get the picture.  Update - Daddy let me know - it means ‘another special one.’

Mom and Dad came from the Minneapolis ares for their shoot on Friday.  OK, maybe there is family in New Sharon and maybe there was a baby shower to go to also but let’s just pretend they came just for me to meet Layla.  In my opinion, it was worth it!  :  )
