It will be 6 months this weekend since I lost my friend, my boss and my favorite creative partner. The blessings I received from those years of work and friendship have beautifully continued in the days, weeks and months following him earning his angel wings. I am forever grateful to the friends from all over the country who are walking and sharing this journey together.
The happy part….. I remember the exact day I got a text (“at Donny’s #24 begins” and a big happy face) and picture of david in the recording studio. It was about 3 weeks before he entered the hospital and would then go to hospice. Just the fact that he was able to do that is a miracle. During the second gbm diagnosis, david wrote with renewed gusto and then recorded some of those songs throughout that time. This new CD is a collaboration in so many ways including the funding, prayer, production, artwork etc. I was so happy to continue to be a part of a nationwide team that pulled it off. I think david would be very pleased with us.
The CD was released on Wednesday and when I looked at it on CDbaby just now, it was already on back order. What an amazing testament to david and his ministry! The proceeds of the cd sales go to david’s children’s education fund. If you would like one, you can get on the backorder list on line. If you are local, I have a few copies.

Here is the cover image. I smile when I look at it for so many reasons including the not so obvious place I shot this image ; )
Last summer, one of david’s friends from Des Moines begged him to record and include a song called Fragile on his next album. I remember passing on the ‘I promise’ to Elaine and the joy in her voice when her favorite song would indeed come to life. Fagile is on this CD wrapped by david’s daughter playing the flute and his wife Leslie providing harmony vocals. The whole project is fragile but the water is the answer, david reminds us of that. Amen. (And yes, just typing that made me cry.)
