Mackenzie ~ Newton Senior High Class of 2011

This is going to be a tough one for me…..I grew up in Newton and in 7th grade the merger of several elementary schools brought a group of girls to the then called Berg Junior High.  Vicki, Jill, Kathy, Edie and Amy.  It started then.  Swimming at Edie’s pool.  Eating at Edie’s house.  Talking about boys.  Cheerleading for those boys.  Writing notes.  Getting mad at each other.  Falling in love with each other.  Getting in trouble with each other.  Graduating.  Getting married.  Having babies.   I remember going to Edie’s house and holding her new baby girl and I’ve been so blessed to watch Mackenzie grow up.  She has made me feel very special any time I was around.  She was alway quick to come bouncing up and be genuinely happy to see me.  Her smile and happiness were and are her mommy to me.  Thank you Mackenzie for your spirit and the spirit that reminds me so much of your momma.  I treasure you and will be here for you any time and always.

Here is a bit about Mackenzie, full of life and a spirit that I adore.

My guilty pleasure:

Fudge Rounds and Cheetos. Odd combination but I can’t get enough of them!

Something that is beautiful:

The memory of my mother and the way she sang to every song on the radio, even if she didn’t know all of the lyrics.

Something I am known for:

Looking at life outside of the box.

Something I must have:

 A Boston Terrier!

If I could have dinner with any 3 people (past or present) who would they be?

Emile Hirsch. Spike Jones. Bob Dylan, of course.

What is playing on my (iPod) right now?

Seashell by Seabear

I’m addicted to:

Bob Dylan.

Post Graduation plans:

Attend DMACC in Ankeny for graphic design, possibly attend a four year university then try and work for a magazine.

Favorite websites:

I live on Flickr.com.

One unusual talent I have is:

It is more of a curse, but over my two years of working at Subway I remember people by what sandwiches they get and what all the put on it, not their names.

Famous person/people I have met:

Marisa Del Santos, my favorite female skateboarder.

Best movie I’ve ever seen:

Where the Wild Things Are.

My favorite things are:

My huge family, my boyfriend Greg, the west coast, Schwinn Bicycles, soccer, skateboarding, and Mr. Bob Dylan<3

5 random things about me:

I couldn’t live without popcorn. I really enjoy using darkrooms. My best friend Josie and I have the same kind of turtles, and have turtle play dates. I am a music trivia nut. Amy Doerring was my mother’s best friend when they were seniors, and I have all the pictures and notes to prove it! 🙂

I totally broke my ‘rules’ here but her eyes, well, they are her momma’s and it pleases me so to see them.
