Aleynah was 6 weeks old here, a very tricky age to be photographed.  She was an angel, she did some sleepy baby and then a few smiles, seriously so hard to get a 6 weeks.

It isn’t often that I get a few newborn pictures outside in the fall but beautiful weather the whole season allowed me to do things I couldn’t imagine.   Here is baby Brody who joins one of my favorites, Miss Candence. 

Here is Miss Kaylee….I was loving those blue eyes when I asked her to get up in the tree.  She had this elegance and grace that I couldn’t help but feel.  She pointed her toes and I immediately asked her if she danced.  Yes, for Michelle.  The light bulb starts going off.   Michelle has a dance academy in Grinnell and is in her second year in Newton.  Kaylee goes to the one in Grinnell and knows Suzanne, Kamryn, Libby, Katie, Cadence, Tammy and her three girls….really we know so many people in common and what I love best….she lives almost an hour away from me.  It is a sweet small world : )

I am in totally picture love with Broc, his eyes and smile and overall personality are just perfect boy to me.

One year olds are about the most difficult.  Every single bit of expression and eye contact we got from Kade we worked hard for.  When you work so hard, the winning is even better.

We had a fabulous time and my camera got a good workout – 32 gig of pics – almost 1500.  After 6 days of annoying my boys shooting scenery and them, I just couldn’t stand it any longer.     I was walking back to my room and in mid-conversatioin with a new friend ~  I saw her.    Blue eyes, amazing blue eyes with dark hair, a beautiful combination that just pulled me in.  I didn’t start talking to her mom because I wanted to take her picture, that just happened.  My lens must have started twitching or something because I suddenly felt brave and just blurted out that I was a photographer and could I please please just have a few minutes with her.  Thank you thank you to Geraldine and Mary – (momma and grandma) who didn’t jump to the conclusion that I was a freak.   

Here is Miss Abbie – a pretty good sport – 13 months and crystal blue eyes and 5 minutes play time with me!  

If you know me….you know what I was thinking about now….Yep, off with the shoes and socks : )   And…of course the eyes do it for me always.  She had a few smiles for me but mostly was just showing off those amazing eyes!!!

While I can’t go back to the ‘very beginning’ I can go back to the very first moment that I knew something special….  This would be the last Christmas picture as three, there would soon be five!  Yikes and yippee, I knew I would be photographing twins.  Seriously, this was a minute after she told me.

Tapping fingers for 7 months waiting to get my hands on the sweet boys!  May arrived and I was so happy – it is all about making me happy right?  LOL, everyone was happy!    Welcome Chris (left) and Sam (right).  I admit that I do remember which is which because to me, Chris looks like Caleb who looks like daddy Casey.   Since those names start with C, Sam is the one who looks different.

3 Months

Sam, Caleb and Chris…. Momma was working that day so Daddy, Erica and I shot the fall pictures.  It was crazy but we did it!

My favorite age/stage is sitting and before crawling, simply the best!

1 Year….it went by too fast for sure!

Some of my clients can come up the hill or around the corner or a few blocks or a few minutes or from Des Moines or from Iowa City, you get it.  Zoe comes from Minneapolis.  They do have family here but to try to organize a shoot in with all their family plans is not always easy.   I appreciate the effort it takes to see me.  (Amber too, my other Minneapolis family!!!)

I hoped that one day I would come back to the place of my birth and decorate the walls (ok, really I only cared about eating and sleeping but pretend with me).  Today, after  years of talking, planning, shooting, choosing, editing, printing, etc, 28 images were deliverd to the Skiff Medical Center Labor and Delivery wing.   Each patient room will have canvas images as will the two halls surrounding the rooms.  The hospital is in the process of remodeling those rooms and we were able to ‘finish’ one of them.

A huge thank you to the staff, nurses, my Erica, the Skiff Foundation and my lab president Dave!   Mr President drove to town today to help deliver and hang canvas prints.  It was a special day!   I think the word was out today…..there was alot of traffic checking on us.  It was great!

The boxes overfilled the bed of my son’s pickup. 

A few…

If you know me, well, if I think it, I say it.  So I do believe it was about this time when I asked Dave how the nurses might care for the canvas.  Seriously, babies will be born right there, who knows what kinds of bodily fluids might test the canvas  ; )

As we were hanging images I wanted to tell them the stories about each baby.  These are ‘my’ babies and I adore them all.  This baby behind us is Candence at her newborn and then Cadence at 1.  I love seeing them together. 

One hallway complete!  The canvas prints are 24×30 and 24×24, they are not little!!

The nurses chose Tait as the image that would add sparkle to their day.  This is located right by their station!

It is a honor to have my images in the hospice wing and now labor and delivery.  My heart feels blessed!
