At the end of every session I had the senior write on their hand/hands with permanent marker. I put my head down a bit feeling silly asking them to do something that felt a little odd. It got easier to ask as the season went on. I didn’t care what they wrote, where we were when I took the picture, only that it might tell a little bit about them. Some wrote a lot, some just a si…mple word, all of them are beautiful and honestly make me a bit teary. As I start to blog and post my seniors, this will be their introduction. At the end, I’ll have a great slideshow of some amazing seniors who will do amazing things in this world. Thanks for playing with my game, I am a goofball.

We’ve lost a friend. We are heart broken and still pretty numb to it all. Bret and LeRoy became friends when Bret did an internship during college. He has been a part of our lives for so long, our boys certainly don’t know life without him, we don’t remember life without him. LeRoy has become friends with our friends, they feel the same.

LeRoy’s Christmas card was always the first one to arrive. LeRoy’s birthday card was always the first one to arrive. LeRoy’s letters, well they came more often than that. We have saved them all I honestly need to read one every night at dinner, the best table talk ever will be generated from his thoughts. We will continue to learn from him for always, his legacy to us.

LeRoy was 82 but it wasn’t enough. I want one more letter. One more lunch. One more card. One more smirk. One more bit of wisdom. One more giggle when he always arrived on ‘LeRoy time’ – 1/2 hour early. One more chance run in with him about town. One more look at the white flat top. One more story. One more listen to the beautiful candence of his voice. One last “Bye now, LeRoy B.” Oh how we will ALL miss you.

About 8 years ago. The little guy on the left is as tall as daddy now.

Tomorrow, we’ll say it instead of read in in your letter ………. By now LeRoy B

Oh and….if you know me, you’ll know what specific illness I hate. A little more fuel has been added to my hate fire. Or maybe, just another reason to fight it in ways that I can.

I posted about my Aunt Libby earning her angel wings last week. It made me think about the you tube video It’s OK as she is one of the stars of the show, well I think she is a star ; ) I watched it a couple of times on Tuesday. My phone rang on Wednesday from Jolette (cool name) from Peace of Mind Parenting from LA - on fb and on the web. The link is below, the It’s OK slide show is a small part of her blog post.

http://peaceofmindparenting.com/

Thank you Jolette, you honored me and made my day!

The farmer wasn’t checking out their beuty…what interested me was that he was checking to see if they were ready. He opened up the pods and tested their ‘doneness’ by biting them. I just thought it was very cool and I was very happy that my camera followed him to the field.

Scroll down to see my comments after you look at the image…..

I was listening over and over to a song that my friend david wrote about an angel. I needed to go take a picture to match the song so I just immersed myself in it to really feel it. I was going to go on my picture hunt Saturday afternoon. I left the house but first stopped by our pumkin patch where Bret and the boys would be plowing. Old tractor and old plow – those pictures will come later.

I was looking for light to photograph with and noticed a patch of bright blue sky I hadn’t yet seen. I looked up and my jaw dropped. An angel. It was like a gift from God. I had been feeling sad and thinking about david and his family and listening to the song all day. Then, this beautiful gift. I couldn’t and still can’t believe it. My words don’t even feel like they are as meaningful as it was. Just know, it was.

I think it is pretty clear that I think Miss Harper is special. Not only is she adorable to me on the outside, her sweetness on the inside just pulls me in each time I see her. I saw her last week as she looked through the gourd pile choosing just the right pieces for her fall display. Like always, as soon as she saw me she pipes up with ‘winner winner chicken dinner.’ We both just giggle and she flashes those blues at me. I’ll play that game over and over and over until she tires ; ) But this time, she taught me a new one…. Out of her 4 year old little mouth she said to me ‘well honkin’ horns’. I about died laughing. It was the cutest thing, both what she said, how she said it and she is 4. I’m smiling as I type it.

Harper came back for round two (or more) of gourd shopping……giving me both sayings again, making me smile again. This time we looked through them together and found a little guy that deserved a bath and a photoshoot. Here he is with my little pose helper……
