The best way to get me to shoot a senior session twice, pray for rain during your session. I’m laughing just thinking about it. We spent Makayla’s first session shooting and running from the rain. Shoot, run, repeat. The worst, we were shooting the horse pictures and saw it coming. We ran for the barn and proceeded to watch the biggest down pour of the season. The second time we were blessed with beautiful light but honestly, I so glad we had both.

First, Makayla’s hand that really does tell a whole lot about her. I see what is important to her, what she likes to do, what she loves to eat, her heritage, memories of her daddy and her horse’s name. Have fun checking out her art work!!! <3 <3 <3

The Maytag Water

It wasn’t in the washer, it was in the water! Working at Maytag was like being a part of a big family, you may think it was like working at any big company, it wasn’t. Ask any Maytager who is working at another company now and with a twinkle it their eye, they will tell you about the amazing Maytag experience.

When I was pregnant with Kyle, Mary was pregnant with Zach, Barb was pregnant with Abby and Marti was pregnant with Erica. Here they are and a few others whose dads worked there or parents worked there later. What a group these seniors are!

Emily B ~ 2012 Hampton Senior

Miss Emily came a distance to see me and I appreciate every single trip they made to me. As time went on, I’m not quite sure if they were more interested in seeing me or going to LaCabana ~ either way I’ll take it ; ) Emily is graduating mid-term and is off to college, way to go Emily!

Before Emily’s session, we had conversations about clothing choices. There are two outfits below that were chosen for special reasons and you see that I loved them both, alot. The red dress – Emily’s grandma wore that on a date. The sentimental value was sweet and she wore the dress ‘well’ : ) The cream Gunne Sax dress was Emily’s mom’s prom dress. The dress both with and without the hat was absolutely killer. Both outfits were some of my favorites for the year!!

Thank you Emily for showing me your heart in so many ways after our time together. You are a precious soul and a gift to your parents!

Seniors 2012

At the end of every session I had the senior write on their hand/hands with permanent marker. I put my head down a bit feeling silly asking them to do something that felt a little odd. It got easier to ask as the season went on. I didn’t care what they wrote, where we were when I took the picture, only that it might tell a little bit about them. Some wrote a lot, some just a si…mple word, all of them are beautiful and honestly make me a bit teary. As I start to blog and post my seniors, this will be their introduction. At the end, I’ll have a great slideshow of some amazing seniors who will do amazing things in this world. Thanks for playing with my game, I am a goofball.

So my 2011 Senior Lee decided during his senior track season that he would join the shuttle hurdle relay team……

He took off….

and his team won and set records over and over again…..

and then won at the state track meet.

Lee….what might you ‘try’ next?

The rain, clouds and temps have not been friendly to senior pictures but I am seeing a change, crossing my fingers anyway! I was able to shoot more last week and feel so much better. It is not easy for the senior families to do all the preparation and to have Mother Nature stick her tongue out at you. It takes a lot to get to me and I appreciate it all. The shopping, the makeup, the hair, the nails, the lists, the organzing, the packing and the driving!!! My clients this week cames from 20 minutes, 45 minutes, 45 minutes, 2 hours, 2 hours and 5 hours away. I was also deeply blessed with diversity this week, Africa, Mexico, Italy and China, you make amazing beautiful people that give my heart a leap to see behind my camera. It truly was a great week!

While shooting this week I looked up and saw this, it made me laugh. We both had left the same doors open, a good vision of the work that goes into equipment, clothes, changing, eating etc. during a shoot…..

I’m starting the editing but wanted to show one quick pictures. This is Sabrina. I’ve had my eye on her for a loooooong time – 6 years maybe. She is a niece to my client in a large family shoot. I noticed her right away, well my eyes and my lens. I’ve been patient and finally Friday was the day of her senior pictures. I’m so happy to have remained connected to their family through the years and that they made the BIG effort to get here. Here is just one on my little porch that blesses me with beautiful light over and over again……

I wish for one second I could describe how incredibly hot it was the day of Allie’s shoot. Maybe to say it was almost difficult to breath would give you some idea. The heat took my breath away, and I’ve already mentioned that Allie did in that purple dress (I’m showing several, I held back at several). I’m quite suprised I survived, lol.
