Do you ever wonder how two people can look at the same thing and see two different things? Two different sides. Two different opinions. It happens.

I think it is pretty clear that I think Miss Harper is special. Not only is she adorable to me on the outside, her sweetness on the inside just pulls me in each time I see her. I saw her last week as she looked through the gourd pile choosing just the right pieces for her fall display. Like always, as soon as she saw me she pipes up with ‘winner winner chicken dinner.’ We both just giggle and she flashes those blues at me. I’ll play that game over and over and over until she tires ; ) But this time, she taught me a new one…. Out of her 4 year old little mouth she said to me ‘well honkin’ horns’. I about died laughing. It was the cutest thing, both what she said, how she said it and she is 4. I’m smiling as I type it. Harper came back for round two (or more) of gourd shopping……giving me both sayings again, making me smile again. This time we looked through them together and found a little guy that deserved a bath and a photoshoot. Here he is with my little pose helper…… Should you be worried that I am done with the gourds….don’t fret….. no comments no comments Some may wonder after looking at my blog right now if I even photograph people. I really really promise I do. I am still very hungry for people images that stir my soul – the hunger certainly keeps me looking and working and snapping. I’m also finding a bit of growling for just plain light and object photography. Today a praying mantis, some fall leaves and some gourds were my little snacks inbetween meals of my three shoots. My husband and his dad are gourd farmers. They start their process by planting seeds in the garage in the spring to sharing gourds in the fall. The gourds are so much fun and amazingly have very cool character. Honestly, I can’t keep out of them. I keep looking and looking and finding and seeing. I’m especially fond of this little guy…… Should you be worried that he is all alone and this will be the last post….no need to worry, he has friends. Bob….if you are reading this…I can hear your laugh and see you smile. : ) show 4 comments I love that you can turn something so funny looking into a natural piece of art. I hear he has lots and lots and lots of friends. Wish we were close enough to reap in the harvest. And I love that you are sharing other things that you see with your AMAZING little eye…. I love this little guy. He’s so handsome. He looks exceptionally happy to be hanging out with so many colorful characters. I’m envisioning even more unique characters joining him in the days to come. I have enjoyed seeing these awesome pics! The color’s are amazing! How EVER could you tell! My friend Sara and Kennedy were at my house. Kennedy had this adorable shy but excited smile on her face. She had gotten an apple at the farmers’ market and wanted to give it to me. It was pretty cool she thought and knew what I would do with it. I certainly wouldn’t cook it, probably wouldn’t eat it, I would shoot it. As she was holding it out to me with her little proud face, all I wanted to do was take her picture. It was dark so it just wouldn’t work. I was sad I couldn’t do that but edited the apple picture this morning. Do you see it? The skin has what looks like a cherry or even another apple on it. Very cool!!! I kept thinking about Kennedy all day, still wishing I could have captured that proud excited face of hers. I was photographing my clients from Ankeny today and looked up and who do I see? Yep, Kennedy. I ran over to her, ignored my clients and took like four pictures. I told her I was so happy to see her, gave her a big squeeze and was off. Honestly, it made my day and my last night. To see a child so happy, well, it is a cool thing. Thank you Kennedy for your joy and sharing your apple art with me! I’m so glad I saw you today and yesterday! no comments |
