When it rains it pours…..

I walked into see my computer guy this morning at 8:00 telling him I was a sh** magnet.  He quickly moved away from me.  I don’t blame him.  My computer died for the second time in three weeks and that along with my camera gave me bad luck in threes.   Thanks to a very savvy Matt and for Bill standing behind me always, I am finally back up and running with a far less of an issue than we thought.    It still pushed me back workwise but it could have been worse!!!

I saw my surgeon last week right before our trip.  I had great news and a huge hug from him!    Although I’d love to have monthly mammograms now :  )  , he said I didn’t need one for another year!     I adore him and sadly he is retiring.   He assured me his replacement was fabulous and good looking.    For some reason I guess I prefer older, rounder and not quite so good looking.  Oh well.

Thank you to everyone for all your love, gifts, notes, cards, etc.  It was amazing!   To those of you who have scheduled mammograms because of me, you have no idea how much that pleases and honors me.  Wow!

A little fall color from the weekend because I’m happy and done with my bad electronic luck!!

Wyalusing, ahhhhh

For over 30 years my family has been going to our favorite park in SW Wisconsin.   I remember all the years in the camper on Friday nights passing by many a high school football stadium with the lights blazing, wishing I were cheering on our own Cardinals.  Now, I cherish that time and give my parents a lot of credit for standing up for family and forcing us to go.  Now it certainly is the place that I want to be with my kids.

We love to camp on the ridge at Wyalusing State Park where the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers meet.   The sounds of airplanes landing below us, trains crossing the river bridge, a few animals in the distance and our children playing happpily are about as good as it gets.

My whole family gathered at Wyalusing this weekend and it was great!  Perfect weather, the apple festival at Gays Mills, cheese curds from the little dairy at Mt. Sterling, sugared apple cider donuts, bundles of wood for the fire, plenty of pumpkins carved, lots of food eaten, three breakfast meats!, you get the picture!

While there, my parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and I thank God we are all healthy and able to be together.   Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!   Thanks for a great weekend.   We missed the game Friday night this time too, it was worth it!

I’m having a week : )

Thank you God!   I have a back up camera, an awesome one at that!   I have never had to use it until yesterday.    Right in the middle of a shoot my shutter decides it is done.  Done.  Plain done.   I wrangled up my back up, finally got some good charges on the lifeless batteries and continued.   Thank you God!   I shipped my baby off to New Jersey today.

The best thing about the situation, I realized my old trusty did a better job at one particular thing I do.  Now, old trusty will always have his batteries charged and get some use again even when my new camera comes home!

Funny thing - I fogot how much I loved how old trusty felt in my hands, how heavy he was and just fit so nicely on my trigger finger.   I also forgot how much I love the sound he makes when the shutter is clicked.  It is strong, solid and sexy.  I know, hard to imagine, but to me, wow, I love it!  So what started as such a sad thing has turned out to be a fun thing for me.   Welcome back into my life old trusty, I didn’t know how much I missed yoU!

Thank you Lisa, Paige, Mylee, Dannette and Dawna for loving me up yesterday during the whole process.  I appreciate it!

Tomorrow I am speaking at a statewide women’s conference for a particular branch of the state government.  I have two hours on the agenda.  Do you think for one minute that I can talk that long?  Don’t answer  : )

Seriously though, the women will get to see lots of photographs and get to peer inside my soul.  I hope I can give them a break from all their work stress and step into the joy I feel (most) every day.   I’ll cross my fingers that I don’t cry but I’m hoping I get a few of them to.

While looking through images for my presentation, I thought I’d post an early in my career favorite perfect for the season.   This image has been used many times in local Newton brochures, visitor booth images etc.     I love seeing it in print!

Baby boy Cooper - 3 days

3 days.   I love that!!!!!!

I had the great pleasure of photographing baby Cooper today.  He hasn’t even been home 24 hours and he got to come to me for a visit!   I have photographed Cooper’s mommy several times and it was so much fun to see her in her new role.

Notice the dark hair on his sweet little back and his long fingers.

Welcome Cooper, you were perfect today!
