I’ve been photographing Miss C since she was born.    She and her family came from Iowa City for their shoot on a Sunday earlier this fall.  She got right out of the van and told me her forehead hurt.     We all didn’t think anything of it and went to our shoot location.  We decided to go to a new place and inbetween she lost it in the van.  Poor parents, siblings, poor Miss C.  She really didn’t feel well.    I needed to be in Iowa City for a football game a week later so we decided to try again.  Miss C got right out of the van this time, ran to me and said ‘Amy I’m all better’.   The tone of her voice, the look on her face, the happiness is her step just melted me.    I adore her.

‘Tis the season.  Getting three kids to look at the camera.  Maybe even a smile and if we are lucky, smiles that are real and look like they are having fun.  For the parents and the photographer, it is always a challenge!

 We decided to look at the images on the computer to make sure we got ’something’.  If you know my house, to get back up to the studio and lug everything for three kids back downstairs is a feat.  Mom and I were getting ready to go back upstairs and lug and down comes Meyer.  He had every bag hanging from his little arms,  a bottle, purse etc.  He was loaded.  He looked at us and said ‘I wanted to get everything for you Mom so you wouldn’t have to go back upstairs and do it yourself.’   I melted.  A big old puddle on the floor.  What child thinks that way?   What child actually does it? 

Meyer you are precious.  Your huge smile that mimics your momma.  Your sweet nature.  Your incredible quest for knowledge.   Wowzers can you come spend some time with my boys?    Thank you for coming to see me again, I always love it!
