‘You don’t know what you can do until you do it”… dmb
She is 12 years out. She is 5 craniotomies out. What is ‘out’? It means 12 years since. Since she had a baseball sized tumor taken out of her head. Grade 3. Not the worst, very close, but who cares what grade when it is your head, your life and your battle to win.
I’ve been on the same ‘virtual staff’ as Lanette for many years and it was good to finally see her face not just hear her voice. I asked to take a few pictures, not the long photoshoot I’d like, we’ll save that for the next meeting. When I touched her head to tip it a bit, I was quickly reminded what ‘out’ meant. Oh how I hate those tumors.
In the brief time I was with Lanette, I was amazed at the activity on her cell phone. Her foundation ‘Gray Matters’ serves and support and hope for brain tumor patients and their families. She is based out of Arizona but serves people all over the world. In the few conversations I heard, she listened and encouraged family members of newly diagnosed patients. Each time she said “I am a patient, I am 12 years out’ I could hear a little more hope coming out of the phone. It happened over and over and over. What a blessing you are Lanette! You were and are still a very important friend to david. I see why.
‘Brain Tumors Stink, That’s What We Think’ is Lanette’s organization’s motto. She tells me that the tongue out is a neuroligical test so hence this amazing wonderful picture of us! lol
Lanette is doing it. Way to go and keep up your amazing ministry!
