Cole and The Mayor

When Cole was baptized he cried like crazy.  Oh no, not when Bill put water on his head but when Bill tried to give him back to me.   That is my first memory of Cole adoring older men.  When Cole was 3, we spent that whole year volunteering at Park Center so he could love on them there.   Some of Cole’s lifetime favorites –  Mr Fisher, Pastor Bill, Pastor Norm, the Wallace twins, Tractor Bill Z, Bill T, Dave T, all the guys at deer hunting, all the guys that farm the Talsma land and Mayor (Dave – but Cole calls him Mayor).     I’m sure I’ve forgetton some……

Here is Cole with Mayor, it looks like almost 10 years ago according to his teeth.    The twinkle in Cole’s eye is part naughty and a big part love!

Mayor is sick right now and Cole is broken hearted, we all are.   Mayor continues to live with style, grace and faith.  I am so thankful that Cole has loved him.   I heard the boys talking today and they said to each other that this will be their first loss of someone that they love.   I’m crying.  Thanks be to God, Dave A you are a precious gift to your family, friendsm church and the town you led for so long.

Janet Miller Mayor Dave, such a wonderful gracious man of God. He was Wes’ confirmation mentor many years ago. What a blessing his life has been to so many of us!!!

patti Oh my Amy I’m so sad to hear this ,I remember when he had the dress shop next to Hesse’s .What a wonderful sweet man.I hope god is good to him and he doesn’t suffer if at all.

Cat Rickers Amy, I so agree about this. How rich our kids’ lives have been to know these special “elders” and how gracious they are to those younger then themselves. Like Cole, Rachel is grieving for her best Deacon buddy “Mr. A.” He’s a saint and we love him.
