Happy 10th Birthday to my business!

On Ridiculous Day 2002 I put up a table out on the Newton square displaying my photography. I had a brochure, a banner, a calendar and a sales tax id. I was in business. Scary ; ) I had a great day and met some people that I still love today – Rachel and Nicki for sure! I booked sessions on the spot and am so blessed to continue to do so. I’ve seen new life and I’ve felt death to my core. I have cried more tears than I can count and I have smiled more smiles than I co…uld ever imagine. My life is rich and I thank every single person who has been on the other side of my lens. You are part of the quilt that warms my heart and soul and I can’t imagine my life without you.

Here is Miss Rachel, I photographed her in August 2002, on Monday and many times in between. She has never lived in Newton or even in Iowa but her momma includes me in their Newton plans ; ) I have watched her grow and I know her expressions. I know her speech pattern and the texture of her skin. I know how her eyes sparkle and I know when she is done with me. I know that she has turned from little girl to someone with a grace and elegance that her daddy is afraid of (he should be). I have more stories like Rachel’s, really I’m just so lucky.

Enough of this sappy stuff….I’m off to shoot in Baxter and have deliveries and clients meeting me for pickups while I’m there. I love it!
