Before I tell this story…I have another to start with. I was at the hospital where I was talking with Allie and Maddy’s mom. I worked with her at Maytag and have always adored her. I said ‘goodbye’ and was on my way. As I turned the corner, I heard their mom say ‘That is my friend Amy.’ I had tears in my eyes as I continued and walked out the door. It was a simple statement but it touched my heart. I love what I do and can’t believe I get to make friends while I’m doing it. Writing this whole post has made me tear again, every single part of it

I may get in huge trouble for this but I think it is beautiful! When I read Allie’s answers to her blog questions (which I’ll post soon) my heart swelled. When asked to name something beautiful, she answered ‘My sister’. Maddy is beautiful, they both are and I’ve loved watching them grow up! They’ve grown a bit and so have I, lol!
I photographed Maddy’s senior pictures in the summer of 2005 along with her friend Melissa. Several interesting things happened that day and seriously, I remember it like it was yesterday. Boys on the steps, guy in red convertible, guy in black car, construction workers too close to the changing station, Janet and her blanket. etc etc
Here is Miss Maddy who I just saw on Friday. Maddy works at a great resturant in Iowa City. I asked her what her favorite thing was on the menu – her love is the chef – she said the mac and cheese. Sin sin sin sinful but yummy. Thanks Maddy for the idea and the yummy crepes! <3 U
To finish up her pictures, we included Allie, a sweet middle schooler who I would anxiously await to photograph again.
The day of Allie’s senior pictures, well think of the hottest day of the year, one where you sweat standing still and when you the air is cooled by breathing it in. We did these pictures at the very end, we were wiped out…..
Here is a Maddy before and after – I looked for a similar pose.
Oh and Maddy and Allie’s mom, her name is Annette, she is MY friend. : )
