When I ‘lost’ my job at Maytag I really had it in my heart that photography was going to be my thing. It had been stirring for quite some time.
I was so fortunate to be a part of a group of very talented women artists. Cat, Elaine, Tiare, Kathy and Cara met for months reading The Artist’s Way. It was a huge turning point in my life. Huge. I can’t thank those artists enough for the impact, support and encouragement they provided.
Recently, my friend david asked if I wanted to be a part of project for the Presbyterian Church. It wouldn’t be my normal pictures of david on a cd project. My feeling said I needed to a different kind of artwork. I tried to find a deep well with photography. I looked everywhere we traveled over those months. I looked in all my older travel photography. Nothing. I kept coming back to my first thoughts of Tiare’s watercolor work. What started as a stirring ending up being something I am so very proud of and excited about.
Tiare, you a wonderfully gifted artist. I am proud to call you pastor, friend and fellow artist.
Go see Tiare’s work Thursday at Creative Ent in down town Newton on September 11th from 5:00-7:00pm. She has a wonderful gift and much to celebrate!
