During a crazy fun afternoon this summer I got to shoot a few pictures for Ashley and Eric’s engagement. I photographed Ashley’s senior pictures so it is fun to see her in this new time of her life.

I'm so happy that you are here! I am a portrait photographer from Newton, Iowa. My life is so rich because of my clients, their stories and how much I adore them. I'd like to use this blog to share them with you!
So come, take a look at what happens in my eyes and their lives in 1/125th of a second.

Although the weather has provided some interesting challenges, I’m still very excited about the class of 2011. I am having a blast and getting to know some amazing teenagers!
I have to share one picture that I am still laughing about. I was photographing Sara on one of those extremely hot days. We knew we wouldn’t be able to get a whole session completed but decided to get as much as we could. There was an unusual fountain in one of our locations. Sara got in it (and stayed dry!!!) then we moved to a short distance away. Apparently the fountain was some much needed relief to the boys cross country team. They were cooling off in the fountain, I could tell they couldn’t see Sara. I moved over a bit and then watched as they all started turning around. 3 came over and got in a couple of pictures with her. The rest stood standing wishing they had been so brave. I turned around and invited the rest over. They came in small groups, it was so fun to watch. When we finally had enough, the resulting image happened.

The boys were very very respectful and so much fun. It was a great day, we were thankful for the hot weather!!!
I don’t get to do it enough and I’m so excited when I get to photograph family. Kayla and Elizabeth are my cousin Ryan’s girls. While I love Ryan, I reallllly love his wife Stacy. I’m so glad he found her, she is a very bright star in my life!!!
Miss Kayla who will soon be starting 6th grade. My lens loves Kayla and I kinda think she doesn’t mind playing with me. I see her daddy, her mommy, her Aunt Sonya, my sister Lisa, and in her heart I see Stacy.

And since my blog is posting colors that aren’t as deeply saturated as they are in PS, here is the bw version. Either way, Miss Kayla is a treat for me. Any day.

Here is Miss Elizabeth. She is liking me a bit more, I keep telling her momma that 3 is my favorite. We have 6 months ; ) Stacy and I looked at each other as soon as I clicked this face. WWCD said Stacy. We both knew it immediately.

If you show up at my studio to pick up an order and your kids are looking like this…..well beware, they may just get photographed….again! Here are my Minnesota girls, Layla and Liya.

Maybe next time I’ll do suckers after they shoot. Really, probably not. I’m not that tough : )
I loooove 6 month olds. Happy and sitting! Momma and I made Braden’s appointment a long time ago crossing our fingers he’d be an early sitter. He didn’t disappoint us! I always always err on the side of simple, especially in my baby photography. Timeless and simple will last as I pout wishing my boys’ baby pictures were still up.
